Event Descriptions

KMTA sponsors many musical and educational events for our students and for the community at large. The following is a description of some of our regular events. See calendar (above) for this year’s dates, and the linked pages on our website about each event. You can also download a condensed version of the annual calendar here. Also review the Deadlines for important events!

Monthly Meetings

WHEN: Generally the 2nd Friday of every month except December and March; 10:00am to 12:00 pm. There are exceptions when special events are planned in lieu of a chapter meeting.

WHERE: Locations around Central Kitsap – check Calendar (above) and News posts for latest information. Fall 2017 meetings will mostly be held at Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church. Spring 2018 meetings have yet to be located.

Monthly meetings are the heart of KMTA — the point of member-to-member contact and the place where upcoming events are discussed and prepared. Each month a guest speaker or program is offered in addition to the business meeting. These meetings offer an opportunity to network and learn with your fellow teachers. Prospective members are invited to visit one of our meetings to find out more about KMTA.

Ten carefully graded levels are available. Forms for the examination program can be downloaded from WSMTA. Practice materials are available from www.composecreate.com (Wendy’s Piano Studio): download free worksheets, rhythm drills, also sight reading pieces. Sample theory exams are also available for purchase on this site tailored to our state Written Theory curriculum.

Student Recitals

KMTA sponsors three combined-studio recitals each year: the Young Musicians Festival, the Music Carnival and the Music Artistry Program Honors Recital. Other recitals may be scheduled as interest and resources allow, such as community Christmas performances (see Christmas at the Mall).
