All active members of KMTA are invited to come to our summertime planning meeting for the year ahead, this Friday morning. The meeting will start at 10am and will conclude with a potluck lunch. Bring a salad, finger foods or a dessert to share.

The location has been changed this year, from Dianne Johnston’s to Jane Melin’s. Contact Jane via email for driving directions.

KMTA Monthly Meeting “Close Encounters–Building Dynamic Musical Partnerships” with Bergman and Ronning

Join us tomorrow morning, Friday April 14, for our monthly meeting at Ted Brown Music in Silverdale. Our special guests are pianist Lisa Bergman (Juilliard-trained and an announcer on Classical KING-FM Radio) and violinist Svend Ronning (professor at PLU), who will be exploring “Close Encounters– Building Dynamic Musical Partnerships”. Non-members of KMTA are, as always, cordially invited to attend our chapter meeting. Of course, this dynamic duo will be appearing in a concert of Nordic music on Saturday, April 15 at Port Madison Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island, at 2pm, to show us how they put their collaborative approach into practice.

Tomorrow’s meeting starts at 10am and will go until about noon. Teachers who will be volunteering at the KMTA Music Carnival and Musicianship Exams need to meet at 9am to go over their job assignments. Please do attend this crucial planning session!

Program Panel at October Meeting

calendarsKitsap Young Musicians Festival. Christmas at the Mall. Monster Concert. Adjudications. State Recitalist Competition. Honors Recital. Carnival. Musicianship Exams. Senior Celebration. These are the annual events that KMTA is all about and that we spend most of our time working towards. Though it’s “only” October, planning for all of these is going on NOW! You’ll want to come to our October meeting to hear directly from the program chairs about each of their events and how YOU might get involved: as a studio teacher, as a volunteer, as a leader. If any of these events are new to you or your studio, there will be opportunity for you to ask questions about what they are and how they work.

We will also be hearing about new approaches to our scholarship competitions which may open them up to more student participation. See you at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 14 at Ted Brown Music in Silverdale!
