Workshops, Masterclasses and Monster Concerts
2019 Monster Concert with composer Kevin Olson
A Monster Concert is an occasional KMTA event featuring a multi-piano ensemble performance where students play synchronized arrangements on multiple grand pianos with other instruments. This grand-scale production transforms individual practice into a collaborative orchestral experience, teaching precision, listening skills, and the power of collective music-making.
Participation is open to interested students of all KMTA member teachers, upon teacher recommendation. Rehearsals are scheduled with participants as required for the performance.
KMTA regularly programs special educational events for our students, with inspiring guest teachers and performing artists.
Sometimes, these events are coordinated with a related presentation or workshop for our member teachers with the artist. Later in the day or weekend, the artist also hosts a block of time to work with selected students on individual repertoire.
Student participation in masterclasses is at the invitation of their teacher.
